Chugong’s most popular South Korean manhwa will finally become a reality, as an anime adaptation for Solo Leveling has been confirmed. Crunchyroll announced the anime television of the manhwa series, which will air next year, as well as the Solo Leveling anime trailer and key visual.
The producers chose to remove the mystery around a Solo Leveling anime during the Crunchyroll Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2022, and they did so. At the end of the panel, the series’ creators revealed a teaser for the upcoming anime and confirmed the Solo Leveling anime release date, which is planned to premiere in 2023. Studio A-1 Pictures (Kaguya-sama, Sword Art Online) will oversee the animation production, with Aniplex serving as producers. Crunchyroll will air the anime Solo Leveling next year. The Solo Leveling anime production team has also been unveiled, and well-known industry personalities are helming the project at A-1 Pictures, with Sword Art Online director on board. Chugong, the series’ creator, published a special statement to mark the launch of Solo Leveling as an anime. “About six years ago, while I was writing the very beginning of Solo Leveling, if someone had told me, “The novel you wrote will become a comic,” I’d have told them to stop pulling my leg,” Chugong said. But now I’m actually hearing it’ll be animated?!”
“Seriously, I’m overjoyed and happy. Because I’m still half-assured that this is real, I’d like to see Jinwoo and the other characters animated soon so that I can be relieved. “I’ll keep working hard and looking forward to that day,” he continued.
Solo Leveling Synopsis
Solo Leveling is a popular South Korean web novel that has been lately adapted into numerous media forms like webtoon, manga, games, and a drama adaptation, which is in production. It is one of the best manhwas and tops the MAL list of ‘Top 50 manhwa’. The web novel is originally written by Chugong is illustrated by Jang-Sung-Rak (aka Dubu), the CEO of Redice Studio.
Solo Leveling follows the life of the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind, E-rank hunter Sung Jin-Woo who takes a dangerous job like raiding the monster dungeons in an attempt to not get killed. Unfortunately, between his mother’s hospital bills, his sister’s tuition, and his lack of job prospects, he has no choice but to continue to put his life on the line. But, one day during a guild operation Jin-Woo encounters a tragic situation that turns his life upside-down and grants him the power to level up.
