He relocated to Tokyo and is now living on his own after staying with the Kofune sisters Mio and Ushio after his parents died. Ushio was tragically lost at sea while on his way to help Shiori Kobayakawa. However, injuries on Ushio’s neck raised questions on her cause of death.
Shinpei recognises that there must be another reason when he takes a step back. To make matters worse, a spirit of Ushio enters and begs him to do one more favour for the islanders: save Mio. He believes that Ushio’s death is only one piece of a much broader puzzle.
Shinpei, with the help of Mio and others, is attempting to build a future for himself, his friends, and his family. As he delves deeper, he learns that such a scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely. His home island is submerged beneath a slumbering abyss. How much more agony will he have to bear until he discovers the proper way to maintain it?
