The staff of the anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 reported on Monday that the movie earned a total of 13.75 billion yen (about US$108.1 million) during its run in Japanese theatres. The film’s run at the box office concluded on Sunday, after 157 days. The picture has sold 9.80 million tickets and has reclaimed the eighth spot at the box office for the weekend of May 28-29.
The film has now surpassed The Last Samurai to become Japan’s 14th highest-grossing film of all time.
The film has surpassed Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time as the highest-earning film in Japan for the calendar year 2021.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 debuted in the United States on March 18 and had grossed a total of US$29,693,448 as of April 3. Unadjusted for inflation, the film is currently the ninth highest-earning anime film of all time.

The film is based on Gege Akutami’s manga prequel story Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kt Senmon Gakk (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School), with MAPPA animating and TOHO distributing. Yuta Okkotsu was portrayed by Megumi Ogata, and Rika Orimoto was voiced by Kana Hanazawa.
