Saitama from One Punch Man is ready to take on the big screen after becoming a huge smash in the anime world. According to Deadline, Justin Lin, the former Fast & Furious director, is directing the One Punch Man live action film.
Shueisha, the publishing company behind One Punch Man, has sold the film rights to Sony Pictures. Arad Productions, which has previously worked on films such as Venom, Ghost in the Shell, Iron Man, Spider Man, and X Men, will produce the live action film.
Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who previously worked on Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom, are writing the script for the One Punch Man film. The film’s production is set to commence at the end of the year. Justin Lin, the film’s director and producer, is well-known for directing several films in the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise. Due to creative disputes with Vin Diesel, he recently quit the Fast & Furious franchise as a director.
Although no information about the cast has been released, fans are excited to see who will play their favourite bald super hero, Saitama. It should be noted that Hollywood’s live-action attempts at anime have not been successful thus far. Fans gave some live action films, such as Dragon Ball Evolution and Death Note (live action film), below-average ratings.
One Punch Man follows the story of Saitama, a regular person who gains incredible power by performing 100 sit-ups, 100 push-ups, and a 10km run every day. He lost his hair, but he gained the ability to knock out any opponent with a single punch.
The creator ONE started the One Punch Man series in 2009 as an online comic. Yusuke Murata’s manga series began publication in 2012 on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website. As of June 2022, the manga series had been collected into 26 volumes. Studio Mad House created an anime adaptation, with the first season premiering in October 2015. J.C. Staff produced the second season, which was published in October 2019. So far, no information about Season 3 has been released.
