It’s a new day, and yet another series has been cancelled by Shonen Jump! The last time we talked about a series cancellation was when the magazine giant cancelled Yuji Kaku’s “Ayashimon” serialisation. Which was a series with a big fandom and a lot of potential.
This time, Jump is bringing an end to a series that fans have actively requested be cancelled: Protect Me, Shugomaru!

Daiki Ihara’s Protect Me, Shugomaru began serialisation around the same time as Shonen Jump’s two other brand new series, Ayashimon and Doron Doron. This series, however, did not fare as well as the previous two. Instead of acquiring followers, it appears that Protect Me, Shugomaru quickly gained a strong hate online.
It’s a shame that this series didn’t catch on with audiences because it had the potential to be a long-running comedy series for the magazine. Instead, it, like many others before it, fell short. With Shonen Jump on the quest for its next blockbuster series, one has to wonder how many series will come and go until one sticks. With Jump’s upcoming two series, perhaps we won’t have to go through this serialization and cancellation cycle again!
The final episode of Protect Me, Shugomaru is set to be released this weekend, alongside Jump’s newest series, Alien’s Area! Make sure to publicly support both series and look forward to Daiki Ihara’s next work after this series. You can read this and more series for free on both Viz Media and Manga Plus!
